Hey guys! It’s another episode of #OS and we are looking at the importance of punctuality in the workplace…
“(Punctuality) helps you establish your reputation as a dependable and consistent worker.”
By the way, anyone applied the 10, 20, 30 rule from last week? Leave your comments for us to read!
Skirt entered the office, her face a crimson red.
Bubble Gum watched as she angrily pulled out a drawer at her desk and take out a jacket. “Tell me when it’s safe to ask you what the problem is.”
“You already did! Indirectly.” Skirt shot back at her. She again angrily pulled at the scarf she had tied around her waist and threw it on her chair, then she walked to Bubble Gum. “This is the problem!” She slowly turned her back to her colleague.
Bubble Gum gasped loudly as she saw the large rip right in the back-center of the black skirt, revealing her friend’s orange polka dot panty. “What happened?! Oh my God.”
Skirt turned to face her and started to put on her long jacket! “Let’s just say… next meeting with Buttons, you’re going!”
“The chick from S&M? Weren’t you supposed to meet her yesterday?”
“I was! Then she rescheduled for 10 am today. I thought I was running late so I messaged to tell her I was close and stuck in traffic at Ikeja. She responded scolding me about leaving home at 9: 30 am for a 10 am appointment. Clearly, she was pissed. So I found somewhere to park and got on a bike to her office. It was when I was getting off the bike that this happened! I don’t even know how, I just heard something rip.”
“Thank God I was wearing the scarf cos of the cold. I just hid my shame with it.”
Bubble Gum burst out laughing, “did she at least offer you coffee for the trouble?”
“For where? What if I told you I waited a full hour for her to arrive?! She said she was home making noodles and mixed vegetables.”
“Wait, I don’t understand.” Bubble Gum paused on her chewing looking confused.
“All that time I thought she was at the office already, she was home dicing carrots and pretending to be angry I was late.”
“WHAT?!!!” Bubble Gum’s gum fell out of her mouth as she exclaimed.
MD was looking at the books and talking to HR Brown Leather Shoes, “I’ve been watching Blue Tie for a while. He’s made some really awesome sales for us two years running now. I’m thinking of letting him fill the vacant position for Head of Online.”
HR Brown Leather shifted on his feet, “Yes sir, I agree that he’s responsible for some of our great numbers… But…”
“His teammates know him for something less dignifying, Sir. His trademark is late-coming. No doubts there that he gets the work done Sir, but…”
“No need to speak any further. I love a good salesman but what I love more is a punctual person. Let him carry on the way he has… Where are the books on the TechMedia job?”
As MD was going through the books, HR Brown Leather Shoes saw Blue Tie stroll into the office, toothpick in mouth.
It was 10:30 am, on a Monday.
If you’re guilty of punctuality deficit at work, time to adjust buddy!
