International Day of the Girl Child, also known as Day of the Girl is observed on October 11 annually. It is celebrated to raise awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society.
I thought I’d lend my voice to the cause with this sketch and poem!
Letter from an African Mother:
“Dear Girl Child,
You deserve a voice
You deserve formal education
You deserve love
You deserve protection
You deserve respect
You deserve not to be sexually abused
You deserve to grow, not as a child bride
You deserve the chance to make an impact
And you deserve those that deserve you.”
Don’t forget… when you fight for HER, you fight for the world. Empowering her is securing the future!
